Joyce looks out of her window in Witheram View.
Herds of clouds are passing overhead.
‘Flying south for the winter’ she mutters.
The spectacled man looks up briefly from his book, but stares straight beyond her.
Sometimes she lets her fingers drift through his nose. Sometimes it makes him sneeze.
